About:

Me... Well I'm 24yrs old, living in Hampshire (England) and have been a motorsport fan since I was 8yrs old! I enjoy all forms of motorsport however my real passion lies with Formula One. Those classic Mansell vs Senna vs Prost battles of the late 80's and early 90's (with legendary Murray Walker commentary) are etched firmly in my memory.

Why photography... Well it's something I just really enjoy. It's only since the start of 2005 that I have been able to afford my own kit and devote more time to it. I took my first motorsport photos at my first ever race meeting, the 2002 CART round at Rockingham, UK. I used my Dad's old 35mm camera and although most shots weren't great there were one or two that came out quite well (at least I thought so at the time!). Since then I have attended a whole host of events and races.

In May 2007 I fulfilled a once-in-a-lifetime ambition by attending the Monaco Grand Prix. A truly awesome experience - not a classic race but the whole atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. I would go again but I would like to experience another Grand Prix first, maybe Montreal or Spa.

Equipment... In February 2005 I purchased a Canon EOS 20D Digital SLR body with Canon 18-55mm kit lens. Along with this I invested in a Canon 75-300mm F4.5-5.6 IS USM lens. Although not exactly ideal for the high speed world of motorsport it did offer me the focal length I wanted on a limited budget. Over the coming weeks I purchased essential accessories including memory cards, spare batteries, monopod, tripod, UV filters, rucksack etc. Since then I have bought and sold a lot of kit. My current camera & lens kit consists of the following (acquired date in brackets)...

• Canon EOS 40D Digital SLR Body (September 2007)
• Canon 100-400mm F4.5-5.6 L IS USM Lens (October 2005)
• Canon 24-105mm F4 L IS USM Lens (June 2007)
• Canon 50mm F1.8mm Lens (November 2005)
• Sigma 10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC HSM Lens (April 2006)
• Canon 1.4x Extender (November 2006)
• Canon 25mm Extension Tube (December 2006)
• Canon Speedlite 430 EX Flashgun (October 2007)

I hope to add a second body (again) and maybe a long prime lens - such as the Canon 300mm F2.8, although I need to save up a few more pennies first!

Media... As mentioned on the homepage my ambition is to gain media accreditation and regularly provide images for online and / or printed publications. To an extent I have already achieved this...

FF1600.co.uk - Towards the end of 2006 I was happy to sign-on and work for FF1600.co.uk, contributing imagery for their excellent reports. Sadly the website ceased being updated at the end of the 2006 season. Examples: 1, 2, 3, 4.

RaceXpress.com - From 2007 I will on occasions be working for RaceXpress.com, providing photos for their clients, reports, articles and galleries. Examples: 1, 2, 3, 4.

You can find my photos displayed on various other websites...

Some of my photos have also been printed in national magazines and race programmes...

I was a runner up in the Motorsport News "Readers' Photo of the Year 2005" competition. My entry was a somewhat spectacular shot taken during the Classic Fesitival at Brands Hatch of Marc Campfield rolling his Austin Healey in the Paddock Hill Bend gravel trap. Pictured below (left).

Autosport (11th October 2007) published a photo I took of a nasty Ginetta GT Junior accident involving Cavan Corcoran, which also happened at Paddock Hill Bend, Brands Hatch. Pictured below (right).

MiniWorld (November 2007) published a photo of Andy Davies' Mini Cooper which I took at Brands Hatch during the TWMC Sprints on Saturday 8th September 2007. Pictured below (left).

A handful of my photos were published in the official programme for the 2007 Formula Palmer Audi Autumn Trophy & Support at Snetterton. Main photo used is pictured below (right).

Future... I have no specific ambitions with my photography. At present I have no real desire to be a full-time photographer, instead I enjoy shooting what I want when I want. Of course it would be nice to see more of my work published either online or in print.
